Comparison of Communism and Nazism[edit]
Courtois considers Communism and Nazism to be distinct, but comparable totalitarian systems. He says that Communist regimes have killed "approximately 100 million people in contrast to the approximately 25 million victims of the Nazis".Courtois claims that Nazi Germany's methods of mass extermination were adopted from Soviet methods. Blogger: Courtois was perhaps kind to Marxism: a prior assessment by 'Le Figaro' came up with a figure in excess of 180 million dead at their hands.
I may suggest that Courtois' numbers were more likely absolute figures and Le Figaro was the same plus understandable extrapolations.
It is difficult to believe that the overall figure of Courtois does not need to be increased by a minimum of 50%.
