“We’re okay, and all our friends are okay too”, reported one family of supporters in Northern New South Wales, after we checked on them following severe fires in their area. They also reported farmers who are yelling loudly that it is current green government policy which does not let them remove woody scrub or forest undergrowth, which is a major cause of the current catastrophe. You are right, you haven’t read much like that in most media reports. How about the reports of Army ammunition causing the harsh fires around the Gold Coast region. Climate Change? Then there are those urging: “Please pray for rain!”, yet when I hear this, I think of the prophet Elijah who prayed for more drought until the people had been broken (James 5:7). Then when he next prayed - it rained again – a Climate Change for sure!
Some faith leaders are imploring the Creator God for rain, so thank you Anglican Archbishop Glenn Davies for doing so, and please reward our Aussie Prime Minister for leading prayers in his own church and being publicly scorned by media whose reporting seems obviously slanted to never admit government gains true authority only from the Real God.
But let’s be honest - how many church leaders are calling for the nations to repent of all the evils now locked into legislation, so humans are free to do what they like; abortion, euthanasia, homosexuality, lesbianism, divorce, slander Christians, you name it! Our nation is only one among many that deserves way worse than what’s happening at present.
We live in a world that chooses to forget there is a righteous Creator God who hates death, who regards the murdering of babies as well as adults as an abomination, and refuses to accept the labelling of homosexuality as a right, when He, the Creator of man, long ago called it a wrong, and warned us it will bring His judgement.
Yet at the same time we are obligated to not just pray for, but to help our friends and even our enemies who are suffering along with us at this present time, particularly those farmers who have done nothing to deserve these droughts and fires. Let us never forget that the Creator God, who is the Lord Jesus Christ, was the One who invented weather, and actually has every right to use it to bless, and every authority to use both climate and weather to bring us to our knees, where all nations need to be!
