More than three-quarters of Britons believe we should learn from history rather than rewrite it.

Statues including those of Winston Churchill and Edward Colston have been targeted and vandalised by Black Lives Matter protesters.

Jamie Johnson.Blogger: I apologise to readers for my original, knee-jerk response to the toppling of the statue of a slaver into the sea in Bristol. I still deplore the fact that a man so immoral should have been celebrated thus but I now see that this was just the thin edge of a BLM wedge in which any misdemeanour - perceived or otherwise - can have rent-a-mob demanding statues be taken down.Mea maxima culpa for my shortsightedness.
