Rewards For Illegals?

Free cigs for migrants, nothing for Britain's homeless, how is that right? - CAROLE MALONE.

Our privileged peers can moralise and pontificate all they want on illegal immigrants - knowing full well they will never, ever meet one, writes Carole Malone.

Finally, Rishi Sunak got his Illegal Migration Bill over the line. He nearly didn’t of course thanks to the concerted and frankly insidious efforts of Sir Keir Starmer - who whipped up MP’s and peers to vote against it 70 times in recent months.

And those of our idiot, unelected peers who have no plan, no solution to stopping the boats yet were determined to scupper any and all efforts by the Tories to do something.

But the point here it doesn’t matter what mast people pin their political colours to, the fact is that up to 1,000 people are arriving here illegally every day, and it’s totally unsustainable.

And while it’s currently a problem for the Tories it‘ll be an even bigger problem for Labour if, and when, they get in.

Because, whatever they say, they will have nowhere to put these people.

Nor will they be able to suddenly transform the not-fit-for-purpose Home Office into a hardworking and efficient organisation that manages to process more than one asylum seeker every 18 months which, astonishingly, is currently the case.

And just watch for the anger of the British people when Labour makes no attempt to solve this problem when they implement their “open doors” policy.

How long do they think people will be willing to pay for tens of thousands coming from all corners of the world – huge swathes of whom are economic migrants and are NOT fleeing war and persecution?

They’re people who just want a better life and for some reason, they think Britain should pay for it.

Currently, the immigration problem is costing taxpayers a staggering £2bn-a-year. We’re paying £7m a day to house the migrants.

More than 400 hotels have been commandeered to put them up as have cruise ships, barges and Army barracks. How long can we keep doing that?
