Sonnet On The Love of Jesus.

The crowds grow weary in the fading light,

A wandering flock without a shepherd's care,
He sees their weakness through the gathering night,
And knows the secret burdens that they bear.
No plea for mercy goes unheard, unseen,
No bruised or broken spirit is denied;
He crosses every gulf that stands between,
And stays the storm with grace so deep and wide.
His gentle hands reach out to heal and bless,
To lift the fallen and the lost restore,
He turns our panic into perfect peace,
And bids us weep and sigh, and fear no more.
For in His heart, both human and divine,
Love's steady, never-ending light will shine.
