Value for money, EU-Style!

It is reported that: 'EU Communications Commissioner Margot Wallstrom has earned almost €1.9 million in her ten years as a Commissioner, and if she lives to be 85, she will receive another €1.9 million in retirement payments. In addition she will receive €450,000 after taxes in a one-off payment before cashing in €8,000 a month after taxes as a pension for the rest of her life.'
Well, I am certain that hard pressed British taxpayers do not begrudge her a single penny - or cent, even!

She has worked long, hard and consistently against our nation's interests for a lengthy period - she deserves her reward!

Norman is right.

Norman Tebbit has stated that many tories will defect to UKIP as 'Dave' Cameron takes the conservative party ever more to the left.
He is perfectly correct.
The irony of course, is that the conservatives would have won the next General Election in any case without 'selling their souls'.
There is a very nice, right of centre, ex-tory slot in the political spectrum which UKIP must now fill. Being 'the broad church' it now is, is not a preparation for power.
Not only would UKIP take vast numbers of conservative votes but also goodly amounts from the other parties whose right of centre supporters hate tories and always have.

Making monkeys of us all.

Fred Attewill in The Metro tells us [17/8/09] that "Today's ['A' Level] students are getting better results than in the past because they are spoon-fed syllabuses AND given more chances - via modular courses and re-sits - to succeed. ..
One Director of 'A' levels based in the North West told researchers "You could train a monkey to do the questions today.' ....
Last year 25.9% of 'A' levels were grade A. In 1990, just 12%."

Between 1977 and about 1988 I personally taught difficult 'A' levels. Thereafter they got considerably easier. My 'A' grades were as rare as rocking horse droppings in the first spell and every other grade in the second.
I stopped teaching 'A' level Spanish in 2002. There is no doubt that standards have deteriorated since then.
It is shameful. Those who decide 'where the lines are drawn' - under relentless pressure from on high - are letting our society down badly. Every effort is made to hide the truth - usually by complaining non stop about "undermining the fine efforts of youngsters" at the times the results come out.

Dumbing down? - Surely not!

'A schoolboy has gained a qualification for getting on a bus - despite not knowing he had taken the test.
Bobby McHale, 15, received a letter from an exam board recognising his ability to walk to the bus stop, wait for it to arrive and to board the vehicle.
It came from the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance, the largest of the three English exam boards, and was titled Using Public Transport.'

Our failing NHS.

Dan Hannan the rebel tory MEP has incurred the wrath of David Cameron for daring to criticise the NHS.
Mr Hannan was joining the debate in the USA and explaining to American viewers how our system has been a disaster since its inception and should be copied under no circumstances whatsoever. He was perfectly correct, of course! It doesn't work very well.

What Dan did not do, of course, was to speak against healthcare provision by the state which is how his enemies present his case.

We have a failing system which can only deteriorate further. The 1940s model is utterly incapable of being adapted to 21st century needs.
BUT nonetheless, this crumbling edifice is above all criticism and is into 'sacred cow' territory.
It eats money and fails to deliver. Our healthcare system struggles to get into the top 30 worldwide; is apparently unreformable; is inefficient; irredeemably bureaucratic and worst of all - the money does not follow the patient but is top funded.
No political bravery from Dave Cameron then, is there? No considering the needs of the nation?
One tip Dave. Which is the most selfish and self-absorbed nation on the planet?
Which nation has the best healthcare in the world? Which nation must we eventually copy after the 'sacred cow' has been slaughtered??
YOU KNOW PERFECTLY WELL! - FRANCE!

Euthanasia.

In a society where medical science has not just 'moved the goalposts' but 'transported them to a different hemisphere', where do we stand with euthanasia?

Today 'the old man's friend' - pneumonia - is no longer allowed to take its merciful course.

You would literally be prosecuted for allowing an animal to suffer like we permit some humans to do.

Yet consider the dangers; the undue pressures; the misdiagnoses; the suicide mentality being encouraged.

We argue that Man should not take life as he is 'playing God' but to what extent is Man 'playing God' by ill-conceived preventions of dying?

I cannot get my head around this issue. It is not very often when I refuse to take sides.

Total Representation.

Want a fairer form of democracy?
How about this, then?

Just a thought!

Psalm 94. [RSV.]

1] O LORD, thou God of vengeance, thou God of vengeance, shine forth! 2] Rise up, O judge of the earth; render to the proud their deserts! 3] O LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked exult? 4] They pour out their arrogant words, they boast, all the evildoers. 5] They crush thy people, O LORD, and afflict thy heritage. 6] They slay the widow and the sojourner, and murder the fatherless; 7] and they say, "The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob does not perceive." 8] Understand, O dullest of the people! Fools, when will you be wise? 9] He who planted the ear, does he not hear? He who formed the eye, does he not see?
Hmm. Couldn't be talking about abortion, could it? And it does go on to say ...
20] Can wicked rulers be allied with thee, who frame mischief by statute? 21] They band together against the life of the righteous, and condemn the innocent to death.
So. "Mischief by statute" eh?

NHS prefers bureaucracy.

'Spending on NHS bureaucracy has almost doubled in four years, research shows.
Nearly £1.2billion went on administrators and clerical staff in Primary Care Trusts in 2007/8, a rise of 81 per cent since 2003/4.'

No cash to Amnesty International, please.

"Do you agree with torture? - No? - Then you should support Amnesty."

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS CON TRICK!

Amnesty is an appalling organisation which is of a solid leftwing base - and it shows!

"Amnesty International, an organization that was once devoted to the protection of human rights, has issued a report filled with falsehoods and distortions in an attempt to smear the nation of Nicaragua for daring to protect unborn children from the brutality of abortion."

Christians should never again give a single penny to Amnesty.

A truly unBritish, legal catastrophe.

The Industrial Tribunals Act of 1996 - the groundwork for which had been prepared entirely under the Major Government - brought about one of the worst ever disasters to undermine the British justice system. [I think we can safely assume that the dead hand of the EU can be found somewhere behind all of this.]
In criminal trials, the principle is and has long been, 'beyond reasonable doubt' and the case against the accused must be proved to the highest of standards.

In civil proceedings, the principle is 'on the balance of probabilities' but still requires a burden of proof by the accused to have more than a semblance of provable truth.

In Employment Tribunals the very opposite obtains! An accusation is made which may or may not have merit. The accused - in this case the employer - is put into the position of having to defend themselves with 'an assumption of their guilt' being the starting point.

This is entirely alien to British justice and brings about a considerable number of wrongs in the course of a given year.

Terrified by the size of legal bills facing them, employers are forced to settle.

I know of one case where this cost an employer £250k to get rid of a bad employee.

This is not justice; it is not British and the truth MUST return to being the only thing sought in such proceedings.

Truth.

'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.'

[Thanks, George.]

DNA database young criminals.

'More than 300 children a day have their DNA taken by the police and added to the national database.
Already 412,670 youngsters under 15 have their genetic profiles stored.
Once 15 to 17-year-olds are added, the total rises to an astonishing 1.1 million, according to Freedom of Information replies revealed yesterday.'

There is a certain section of the community - the leftwing, so-called libertarians - which is scandalised by these statistics.

They are fools and should be ignored as they will only consider the figures from a criminal-friendly viewpoint.

The really disturbing feature is how vast the numbers of young criminals are in this do-what-the-hell-you-like-there-aren't-any-consequences society of ours.

Well. Is it true?

Geological theories simply don't work!

“Eighty to eighty-five percent of earth's land surface does not have even 3 geological periods appearing in ‘correct’ consecutive order ... it becomes an overall exercise of gargantuan special pleading and imagination for the evolutionary-uniformitarian paradigm to maintain that there ever were geologic periods.”

John Woodmorappe, - Geologist

Mr Benn.

That Hillary Benn [son of you-know-who] is a touch insipid goes without saying to anybody who has seen him perform on TV although I suppose that in today's Labour Party this may actually be seen as a 'badge of honour'.

His recent outpourings on 'the UK's food needs and potential problems for the future' have been rather interesting.

[I really do not know if he shares his dad's views on the European Union but this seems most unlikely considering that he has received promotions in the government.]

His remarks about our future needs as a nation fail to make out one vital point. The EU has intentionally run down our food-producing abilities in order to make us more reliant on that body.

In World War Two we were almost able to meet the essential needs of the population. Today - I am unable to find stats to say what percentage we produce for ourselves - but it is indubitably tiny.

What? - Joined up thinking - and from this government?

'Buy-one, get-one-free offers could be banished from supermarket shelves under a government plan to reduce Britain’s food waste mountain.
Supermarket chiefs will be told instead to offer half-price deals and package food in a greater range of sizes to suit the single person’s fridge as well as the family’s.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs is demanding that stores agree to a tough target on reducing food waste or face legislation that forces them to make savings.'

YES. It actually makes sense but I'll wager a hefty sum that it will end up costing the consumer more money.
"But why should it?" - do I hear you say?
COZ it always does!

I am ashamed to share a species with this character!

BOULDER, Colorado, August 7, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Dr. Warren Hern, one of the last abortionists willing to perform very late-term abortions in the United States, has written published works describing man as a "malignant eco-tumor" destroying the earth.
Esquire magazine reports in a story entitled "the Last Abortion Doctor," that Hern, the director of the Boulder Abortion Clinic since 1975, argued in a work called Urban Malignancy: Similarity in the Fractal Dimensions of Urban Morphology and Malignant Neoplasms that growing human populations act like a "malignant ecotumor" .

Punnets.

Some of the bigger supermarkets seem to think that shoppers are idiots - and perhaps with some reason.
Have you noticed the tendency towards square, shallow fruit punnets for peaches, plums, nectarines et al?
These tend to hold only some four pieces of fruit and carry the same prices as the rectangular ones which were universal only a couple of years ago and usually held six to eight items.
I refuse to buy the smaller ones at all.

Atheism and arrogance.

The British Humanist Association has a membership of just over 5,000 and yet is being invited to 'balance out' all the many hundreds of thousands of members of Christian churches in BBC broadcasts on a rapidly increasing scale.
The group describes itself as 'egalitarian' in its aims which is of course, code for 'leftwing'.

It is stomach-churningly careful to complain only mildly over anything to do with religions other than Christianity but pitches itself into headlong attacks against the One True Faith at every opportunity.
[It is perhaps unsurprising to learn that the appalling Professor Richard Dawkins is a vice president of the BHA.]
So why do I use the word 'arrogance' in the context of this group? -
Quite simply, if I describe a dozen instances of where God has proved Himself and worked in my life as a counter to their campaign of misinformation, what will I get?
In a sickeningly condescending manner, I will either be referred to as 'a liar' or perhaps worse, 'deluded'. It will be assumed that I am incapable of rational thinking and have at best, 'misinterpreted' the 'alleged experiences'.
When you belittle my experiences on the grounds of an unsubstantiated and utterly unprovable belief system - what other word can be used?
