Another loser.

James Cameron the 'renowned theologian' has 'proved beyond the doubt of any non-God-fearing atheist' that Jesus was buried with Mary Magdalene - his wife. We have the inscribed coffins.
Wow! How strange that the Jews who hated Jesus at the time forgot to mention the 'scam' in the Talmud.
"Mariamene is Mary Magdalene" declares Cameron on no evidence whatsoever.
I quote:
"Except, well, wait. Why are we meant to believe Mary Magdalene is the same person as Mariamene? She was simply called Mary in the New Testament. In the Talmud, there's some argument that Mary Magdalene is the same as "Miriam Megadla se'ar", a woman who gave birth to a person called "The Son of Stada" in Sabbath 104.2. This is an apocryphal Talmudic passage though, and there's nothing else to link the two. "

So. It seems that there is precisely as much substance to 'smoke-and-mirrors' James Cameron as there is to his Tory namesake.

My thanks to John Brownlee for the information.

Causes of war.

For decades we have been assailed with "war is caused by religion" or "Nationalism is the root cause of war."
Well. Are these statements true?

Let MEP Daniel Hannan answer for us:
"In fact, the main cause of war in modern times has been trans-national ideologies: Jacobinism, Com
munism, Fascism – now Islamism. In each of these cases, patriotic loyalties have been a focus of resistance against tyranny. Where nationalism has caused conflict, it has usually been the nationalism of a people denied self-determination within a supra-national state – precisely such a state as the EU is becoming."

Nasty. Very VERY nasty.

The UK Independence Party is probably to be fined an extortionate amount by the Labour-dominated Electoral Commission for what is no more than an administrative error.
My Tory source indicates that they have software capable of helping their party spot these aberrations and it seems quite likely that the whiter-than-white Conservatives tipped off the Commission. It does not get any dirtier than that - if proved to be true.

"So for the facts. UKIP's single most major donor and NEC member, Alan Bown has had his donations for a certain period judged to be inadmissible because he did not fill out his electoral role form. That was sloppy by UKIP not to check but the rule UKIP have breached was brought in to stop foreign donors funding our political parties, and Alan is a UK-based, UK-working, UK taxpaying citizen. In short, the law was not brought in to cover clerical errors of genuine UK donors like Alan. Clearly UKIP is being victimised.Of course, this merits nothing more than a slap on the wrist because if UKIP were forced to return these funds to Alan, he would be free to redonate the funds again. No problem.Remember this is Alan's money. He earned it, paid tax on it, then gave it to UKIP.So will Alan's money be returned to him? No. Alan's money is going to be taken off UKIP and given to the Treasury. In short, the government are stealing Alan's money."
The up side is that this may well backfire with increased UKIP support and donations with the 2 major parties sullied by their deviousness in the eyes of voters - provided that the media allow them to uncover what has been happening.

Professor Dawkins is correct.

I quote from the good professor:
‘It seems to me an odd proposition that we should adhere to some parts of the Bible story but not to others. After all, when it comes to important moral questions, by what standards do we cherry-pick the Bible? Why bother with the Bible at all if we have the ability to pick and choose from it, what is right and what is wrong?’

I wonder if he is referring to the Bishop of Oxford who has foolishly lent public support to Dawkins?

Saturday, February 24, 2007

Beware of the bishop!

The Bishop of Oxford, Richard Harries has joined Professor Dawkins in opposing creation teaching in British schools. Harries, a liberal also rejects the virginal conception of Christ, and has admitted that the OT and NT teaching was clearly that homosexual behaviour is wrong.
Precisely what does this quisling actually believe? Why does the Church Of England not boot him out?

Totality

Have you heard of 'totality'? - No?
Let me help. It relates to the Law - er - sentencing? - Still no?
Then let me explain a disgraceful principle of sentencing guidelines for magistrates and judges.
It means - in the jargon - 'taking an overview of the totality of the offences'.
In practice this means that you sentence a shoplifter for the offence committed. So far, so good.
A second shoplifter appears who pleads guilty to six charges and has six more 'Taken into Consideration' as they want 'to get a clean slate' so they admit to offences not known to the police.
The 'totality' is then to consider the most serious offence and pay virtually no attention to the other eleven.
This may well mean that shoplifter two is sentenced identically to shoplifter one.
Maybe you can see the fairness in all of this - but I can't!

Sorry!!

Carlisle Council got the law wrong and had to apologise after it had tried to stop a street evangelist giving out gospel tracts.
Let's hear it for the Christian Institute's Legal Defence Fund which fought and won this important victory.

Amelia [Amillia]

Amelia in Florida survived after fewer than 22 weeks in the womb. In the UK there are 2,000 abortions between 22 and 24 weeks annually.
This can only mean that every abortion performed at this time IS the murder of a potentially viable child - the low survival rates are just irrelevant.
The abortion time limit HAS to be reduced - and dramatically.
If we butcher viable children in the womb, the logical next step is to decriminalise the murder of babies OUTSIDE the womb. Then why not follow the logic through to Herodian proportions?
Surely to murder the innocent and yet refuse to execute murderers is the most immoral turn around of good and evil ever seen on the planet.

Refer to Psalm 94.Genesis 9:6.

UPDATE: A child has been born in Lancashire and has survived at 22 weeks. 1/3/07

I despair.

I quote the article from the Christian Institute. I shed tears for the sick world we inhabit:

A Christian fostering and adoption support service today announced it faces closure because the Government will not grant an exemption to the Sexual Orientation Regulations.

Following on from the statements of the Roman Catholic Church and the Church of England, Cornerstone (North East) Adoption and Fostering Service wrote to the Prime Minister calling for protection from the regulations.

All prospective carers with Cornerstone (based in Stockton-on-Tees) must be Christians and they agree to live by the Bible's teaching. This means that among others, people of no, or other faith, heterosexual unmarried couples and practising homosexuals, are currently referred to alternative providers.

Following a meeting of carers, Trustees and staff, The Chairman of Trustees, Robin Singleton, said today:

"Cornerstone was founded as an agency for Bible believing Christians who want to provide a 'forever family' to some of the most vulnerable children in our society. By any measure Cornerstone is a very successful agency with outstanding outcomes for children. In our 7-year history more than half of the children have been adopted by their foster carers and our breakdown rate is exceptionally low.

Understand the true nature of government.

The true object of propaganda is not - to convince or persuade, but rather "to produce a uniform pattern of public utterance in which the first trace of unorthodox thought reveals itself as a jarring dissonance."

Crimewave.

Rates of offending have risen by approximately 1,100% in the last 55 years.
The biggest single and direct factor is that imprisonment has dropped by significantly more than 80% in that time and is dropping still more. For example, when I was a JP, flashers who would have automatically been jailed previously would receive a lesser disposal; there was every chance that wanton vandalism would have received a custodial outcome 50 years ago but I never saw anybody jailed for this.
Shoplifters were only jailed in the most extreme of circumstances in my decade on the Bench. ABH would seldom attract custody. Driving while disqualified was 'entry point custody' when I began and you were unable to jail these people by the end of my time, courtesy of the 'tough' David Blunkett's guidelines.
When I began, the worst 3% of fine defaulters were locked up - when I finished - virtually none. Bail bandits used to be jailed automatically. Most now escape custody. The vast majority of offenders who breach court orders are not locked up Community punishments are systematically abused.
Persistent recidivists avoid prison throughout countless court visits - and remember that, on average, they will only be caught for 5% of their offences.
There are many reasons for offending: family breakdown, social and moral decline, spoilt children, lack of Christianity in upbringing et al. I refuse to include poverty as it is an insult to those brought up in the 1930s whose poverty was genuine.
BUT the biggest single factor is that a visit to court carries no fear whatsoever. I know, I have been outside courts when the riff raff are laughing at their absurdly lenient sentences.
The Law is generally tough enough in the statute books but all sentencing hinges on lamentable guidelines from on high.
Social disaster. The liberal approach has had free rein for a miserable half a century. They have failed BIG STYLE! Their solution? - More of the same. I despair.

Time to get tough with ALL offenders. Zero tolerance.
Too many offenders being sent down? - Were it not so desperately serious, I would be laughing.

The Law is an ass.

A Hertfordshire Police Officer wrote into the Daily Mail this week to say that investigating alleged cases of racism and 'islamophobia' is so intrusive as to be having a profound and deleterious effect on the way they are allowed to do their jobs. Even wispy third party allegations must be fully investigated.
I wonder how many non-domestic burglaries [sheds and garages] were not investigated and the householder merely sent a 'crime number' instead? If they are not careful they will soon be having to reduce the number of mobile speed cameras - sorry! I meant 'SAFETY' cameras, of course.
Oh. Incidentally. Back to the main point. The vast number of complainants are WHITE!
Let's hear a warm round of applause for those wonderful busybodies of the PC lobby - and no! I don't mean Police Constables.

Jonathan Edwards

I was sorry to hear about the 'crisis of faith' which has been endured by the former triple jumper and Songs of Praise presenter Jonathan Edwards but as I have previously stated on this blog, there is a real need for faith to be experienced. Where faith is merely opinion, then it's validity will always be open to question and its base is one of sand.
It is also harder to live the Christian life. There is no way anybody who has felt God's hand directly can then move onto doubt His existence. They may backslide but they will always know the Truth.

Evolution: the real agenda?

That bigoted, Australian, evolutionary scientist, John Reid has gone one better than Richard Dawkins who has advocated a re-examination of eugenics - or the Hitler science.
Reid actually advocates a cull of humanity! Given the nature of evolution - this thought pattern is chillingly consistent in its logic.
Please do not believe that 'evolution may be a bit dodgy on the science front, but there is no real harm in it!' This is the stuff of horror films and as a pseudo science, it has done untold damage to the potential faith of millions.
I shall not mention 'millstones' too much.

Civitas

A devastating report by David Green of Civitas shows beyond doubt that fewer people are showing the virtues of self reliance; in fact one third of homes now lean on benefits.
They have simply become welfare dependent. This was essentially what marxism was always aiming to achieve - [and worse] - yet seemingly, this creation of ever more 'nanny state' is supported by the other two major parties as Labour have seen this situation grow inexorably during their term of office.

I really do not think there can be any scriptural justification for this, yet the liberal church inevitably lends support to measures which help to bring about, what in the long term, must be social disaster.

Fortunately, Labour's own Frank Field MP and practising Christian, continues to work against this nonsense.

Mad world.

It is truly appalling that firms are not permitted to sack anybody today.
It was reported on Monday that a homosexual man in Glasgow was sacked after 8 days in the job.
It meant that he got nearly £120,000 in compensation. £15,000 per day ain't bad, eh?
So for just ONE day's work he gets £4,000 more than parents receive in compensation for a murdered child.
I wonder if anybody can possibly disagree with me that we need a Law of Common Sense to over-ride such nonsense?

A Muslim country?

I quote from the Weston & Somerset Mercury:-

HEADTEACHERS are being advised to 'spice up' their religious education lessons by getting children to dress up in Muslim clothes, learn about the five pillars of Islam and make prayer beads.A newsletter, due to be sent out by North Somerset Council to primary and secondary schools, suggests that pupils should be taken to an exhibition in Birmingham where they can learn about the faith, history and practice of Islam.

I believe that this used to be a relatively free nation and I am in favour of Muslims being free to practise their faith. End of message.
This piece of nonsense is being imposed on children who possess only a tiny fraction of the knowledge of Christianity - otherwise known as the Truth - which was the case when I was their age. It is an abomination and underpins dramatically what I have already written on the reasoning behind the horrors of multifaith.
[I do not criticise Interfaith dialogue as this does or should not embrace surrender and should be seen as outreach. See posting 10th September]
I wonder if there are similar 'let's-explore -the-value -of -Christianity-events' over in Saudi et al, or are they too busy producing hate literature for 5 year olds?

PC fools! Listen to me! BNP Councillors are in place and their movement is growing, not because of the right in the UK, but because of YOU!!!

A week away.

Provided that the weather allows us to escape - it is off to sunny Spain . Consequently your daily fix of common sense is suspended for a week.

Ever more propaganda.

The Sunday Express has reported that the German government has called for a single European syllabus to be taught in schools. It reports that German Education Minister Annette Schavan said, “National Curricula should not describe what is to be taught but the objectives and outcomes intended. These should be based on an EU framework”.

Global cooling.

I really do not know if global warming is a 'fact' or not. My suspicions are always aroused when I am assured that 'I must believe something.' In my experience, such situations are usually proved wrong in the longer term.
Secondly, I recall the bombardments we faced back in the 60s and 70s from significant portions of the scientific community who were insisting that we had to prepare for the 'ice age which would be arriving, sooner rather than later.'
Thirdly, I have just done a search through the Internet for information and it is filled with 'global warmers' insisting that there had never been any such claims 40 years ago and even if there had, it was only the odd crank. or so.
You have to be 50 or older to know from experience the lies told by Wilson and Heath to get the population to vote to stay in The Common Market in 1975. This represents considerably fewer than 50% of the population who can recall the truth. How so? -They were there!
SORRY. But I was there when those reports on global cooling came out by the bundle. I read them at the time. I experienced them and now people are lying and saying 'Ah well, it was just the media."
No. I was there. The people making such claims are not misguided, they are deliberately misleading us.
All these prognostications and scientists can't even get the weather right three days in advance!

Not promised tomorrow.

If there is one thing - amongst many - which I do not understand about people today, it is the fact that a majority are believers in God, in the most limited of senses, but so few ever stop to ask themselves the basic question "What happens to me if I die today?"
I am prompted to write this after listening into a quite advanced conversation on the matter by two fifteen year old girls having their lunch near where I was on duty. I teach them RS but the issue in the title was of their own discovery.
Too many people who have some untidy belief in God seem to blithely assume that having accepted the likely existence of God is good enough cause in itself to warrant salvation.
These may be added to the countless lost souls who foolishly believe that having your good deeds outweigh the bad will suffice. Neither of these types seems to grasp what Christ did.
He came into the world to save sinners and if we think we are otherwise, we are lost already.
He did not die on a cross so He could show off 'how easily He could come back to life'. No.
His horrific death on the cross was the payment; the punishment for all sin, for all time. We either reject that sacrifice or we admit what we are; sinners and only then can we enter a relationship with Him with the certainty that we shall not end up in hell. He paid the price for us. He took OUR punishment.
Being a Christian does not necessarily make us 'good' - but we are better than what we might have been and forever 'sinners saved by the grace of God'.
Proof? - Of course. When you give yourself to Him fully and without let or hindrance, you can enjoy certainty. God is a reality and not a matter of opinion.

Higher Education Policy Institute

A recent survey by the Higher Education Policy Institute has revealed that there is a significant gap between the old and new universities where student work levels are concerned AND the more laid back students in the former polytechnics still end up with top degrees for less effort.
Is there any area of modern life where honesty, integrity and hard work are actually rewarded?
This was the inevitable consequence of: grade inflation, dumbing down, mickey mouse subjects and academic subjects being offered to the less-than-academic.
Originally, the polys were designed for the advancement of technical and vocational education. Excellent. Why change that?
Mind you. The first lowering of these standards occurred under the Thatcher reign. For once, the left does not get the initial blame although they must shoulder responsibility for just about everything else since.
Today of course, the university is not a place of education but rather "an engine for the destruction of social elitism." Basically, this means that people must not be rewarded for being better than others.
Don't believe me? - Read the appalling link below. No prizes - that would be elitist - for guessing which paper could write such pap.
"The government is making top universities more elitist than ever by forcing them to recruit more widely."

Class warfare lives.

Class warfare lives. The sheer hatred of the left for the middle classes is almost beyond belief - ironic really as that is precisely where most of the liberal left are to be found.
The avowed aim of achieving a 'meritocracy' failed with the demise of the grammar schools.
Forget fairness, justice and merit. Now the idea is to punish the young and talented in favour of the young and less talented. You really could not invent this - unless you happen to be Jonathan Swift!
"Middle-class pupils face losing out on university places if their parents have degrees," it emerged yesterday.
For the first time, sixth-formers applying to university will have to reveal the level of education their parents received.
Pupils with a family tradition of higher study could find it harder to win places because the Government will monitor universities to check they are increasing their intake of working-class students."

Christians cannot vote Labour.

The trouble with the statement, "Christians cannot vote Labour" is that it excludes Liberal Democrats, Greens and Conservatives who are equally unworthy of Christian votes.
Roman Catholic leader in England, Cardinal Cormac Murphy- O 'Connor, is right in his assertions that Labour is deliberately trying to wreck the principle of the family by "establishing a new norm in which children can no longer expect to be brought up by a mother and a father." This is an abomination before God.
The problem is that the Lib Dems and Greens are likely to be at least as extreme and was it not the Conservatives whose tax policies were the first to prove irrevocably damaging to the family?

And there are some who wonder why I claim that yes, the BNP is offensive, but no more than the extremists in so-called mainstream parties.
