Nasty. Very VERY nasty.

The UK Independence Party is probably to be fined an extortionate amount by the Labour-dominated Electoral Commission for what is no more than an administrative error.
My Tory source indicates that they have software capable of helping their party spot these aberrations and it seems quite likely that the whiter-than-white Conservatives tipped off the Commission. It does not get any dirtier than that - if proved to be true.

"So for the facts. UKIP's single most major donor and NEC member, Alan Bown has had his donations for a certain period judged to be inadmissible because he did not fill out his electoral role form. That was sloppy by UKIP not to check but the rule UKIP have breached was brought in to stop foreign donors funding our political parties, and Alan is a UK-based, UK-working, UK taxpaying citizen. In short, the law was not brought in to cover clerical errors of genuine UK donors like Alan. Clearly UKIP is being victimised.Of course, this merits nothing more than a slap on the wrist because if UKIP were forced to return these funds to Alan, he would be free to redonate the funds again. No problem.Remember this is Alan's money. He earned it, paid tax on it, then gave it to UKIP.So will Alan's money be returned to him? No. Alan's money is going to be taken off UKIP and given to the Treasury. In short, the government are stealing Alan's money."
The up side is that this may well backfire with increased UKIP support and donations with the 2 major parties sullied by their deviousness in the eyes of voters - provided that the media allow them to uncover what has been happening.

Perception?
