Tough!

It is one of those ineffable truths of political life that whenever there is a real problem in society which the government should be tackling, newspaper headlines will suddenly announce either "Government crackdown on ...." or "Government to get tough on ...."
At that point you can be quite certain that this is code for 'Absolutely nothing of relevance will occur.'
I just wish that all newspaper editors were a little less naive - or perhaps a little more straight with us!
