Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali had a letter published in
The Times newspaper this week, written in response to a column by
Matthew Parris.
Referring to a debate at the Conservative Party conference in which he and Bishop Nazir-Ali took part, Mr Parris criticised the use of arguments based on religion in public debate.
Responding in his letter, Bishop Nazir-Ali said:
Parris wants to put me...into a "God slot" where we can safely be ignored, while his oh-so progressive project marches on. But what we are talking about is public truth in the public space. It is to do with how we are and how the world is and what is important for society. To this he needs to find some answers and quickly.
