Decriminalising Class A Drugs.

The Chief Constable Of Durham has recently called for class A drugs to be decriminalised.
The usual argument is that 'it removes power from the hands of criminals'.
Great theory except for the small detail - that it doesn't work.
It has been tried in assorted places around the world - and has always been deemed a failure!
Even if it were to succeed in cutting crime - which is not impossible - do we really want to risk doubling, trebling or maybe even quadrupling the number of addicts?
If we are serious about tackling illegal drugs - penalties for users must increase significantly. Penalties for minor dealers must result in serious prison time. The major importers should be dealt with in the Singapore fashion.
THIS is the experiment we should be trying!
