Low self esteem can be a genuine and serious problem
but once defence lawyers start to use it to excuse appalling behaviour, the
seriousness level is diluted. Perhaps we can consider Jonathan Kellerman's
view:
"Low self esteem (explaining 'reasons' for criminality)
- it is like trying to explain Hitler in terms of artistic
frustration."
