Making Languages Fail In Schools.

English youths are 'Europe's worst at languages': Just 9% of pupils have basic mastery of French compared with 42% elsewhere

French? - (What of the rather  more useful Spanish?)  Either way - modern languages were irreparably damaged back in the 70s when possession of a GCE pass was removed from general, university matriculation requirements. Pupils who find languages tough will frequently expend little effort today. As a former languages teacher - I have no doubt at all that it is the most difficult subject on the curriculum to teach effectively.

Sorry Folks.
