The wild allegations of racism which were shamelessly hurled at UKIP in the runup to the EU elections by the left were not only unfair
but so very hurtful.
I have worked for many years with children from a
dozen nations, from a variety of creeds and cultures and have come to a respect
for different peoples on top of the Christian enjoinder to 'Love our
neighbours.' Yes. Hurtful.
Some weeks ago, I had the sudden flash of memory of a
certain, truly great W. Indian cricketer and recalled the most objectionable, racist nickname
that had been awarded to him. It suddenly occurred to me later on that the only
people who I had ever heard use it were actually out and out leftists. Funny old
world, innit?
