Anti-UKIP Leftwinger Dan Hodges Has To Take The Party Seriously.

But I am still not sure that the commentators are yet grasping what is happening. They panic, they bumble around seeking answers that fit their political philosophies, they chatter (and oh, HOW they chatter!)
So many are talking about the immigration issue as if it is the sole reason for the UKIP rise. Again, they miss the point. Immigration is only a factor, a mere symptom - it has just been the catalyst for what is now happening and nothing more. The voters have been treated like children by the political establishment - forever - and they are finally beginning to spot that they do possess alternatives. Rochester and Strood is the big one, now. If the tories can hang onto that seat - even by a Labour-style two point margin - it will serve as a huge, temporary sticking plaster. If they cannot, then the impetus for the General Election will lie with UKIP who can look forward to more seats - perhaps even into double figures in May.
What odds now on a UKIP government in 2020?
