As a new football season beckons, we have recently passed that sad time in the season when
youngsters who will not make the grade are released - their dreams in
tatters; contracts are not renewed and established players are told 'on your
bike'.
These decisions tend to be largely applauded by supporters who may
very well be demanding the head of the team's manager at the same
time. These sportsmen are people; they are human; they possess feelings
and yet are considered as no more than pieces in a chess game. What has never failed to surprise me is how the leftists out there
are always shouting the loudest; demanding tumbrils; wanting to see heads on
platters and treating players and managers as mere commodities. In this, they are
so often significantly worse than the capitalists they purport
to despise!
