ID Cards.

As a matter of civil liberties, I have long opposed the introduction of ID cards which must be carried on the person at all times. With deep regret, I am beginning to feel that society is now in such a mess, we have little alternative.
There are problems with: police being unable to establish the identity of those acting suspiciously; illegal immigrants; those seeking to scam the NHS as 'health tourists'; terrorist suspects; con artists and many more besides.
It will be a sad day when this happens - but what is the realistic alternative? They work well in scores of other democratic nations.
