'You don't need to go to university': Theresa May condemns the 'outdated attitude' that university is the best option for all school-leavers
Theresa May will today condemn the 'outdated attitude' that university is the best route for all school-leavers, in a speech challenging snobbery around skills training.Mail.
Absolutely right. I always advised my students to only consider uni for two reasons:
1) If your choice of career would demand it or
2) If the course you wanted to follow was in a subject that was the love of your life.
I would suggest too that everyone should consider taking an OU degree spread over a number of years just in case they were ever to encounter a glass ceiling. There were so many advantages to doing things that way!
The current approach is nonsensical - so many university degrees and so few jobs which actually need them. The proliferation of jobs which 'require' degrees has become a social joke.
