I’ve been the victim of a random assault on the streets. Friends have had far worse: victims of burglary and rape.
Those who say criminals shouldn’t fear consequences would rather the innocent live in fear than the guilty.
The faux-outrage against
is terrifying.
Home Secretary says rapists, burglars, murderers, etc., should fear justice. Good.
Left-wingers scream rehabilitation. Rehabilitation IS important but it can’t deter or prevent crime. It’s an intervention after the crime’s been committed. Justice doesn’t preclude rehabilitation.
Career criminals should indeed fear justice, as should serious offenders. This is a product of two things:
a) Chance of being caught
b) Sentencing
Deterrent sentencing of repeat offenders matters. But so does reversing the cuts to policing and making sure we catch criminals.
