Blogger: there is something unutterably degenerate about sentencing which fails to pay even the slightest of heed to the Lex Talionis.
What, in essence, is wrong with punishments being in proportion to the crime committed?
And NO! - Jesus did NOT abolish this principle - He instructed individuals not to fail to get on with their neighbours.
It is surely the best indicator of any immoral/amoral society if it considers the rights of criminals to be superior to those of victims.
I am totally fed up with this extreme liberal culture which aims to excuse atrocious behaviour.
It was appalling when I finally had had enough as a Chairman of Magistrates and felt obliged to resign some fifteen years ago - BUT NOW ...!
