First Day Second Test.

Having won the toss on a day of low cloud, England rightly put India in to bat. It was the only decision to take.

Sadly, the new ball did not move a great deal through the air and the fielding side persistently badgered the umpires to change the ball throughout the morning.

Part of the problem was that the new ball bowling was too short, did not attack the stumps - indeed, it was frequently off line too.

England deserved a long hard day in the field. Only two wickets fell all day - with a third being added shortly after taking the new ball just before stumps.

Congratulations are in order to the openers with a fine knock from Rohit and an unbeaten century for the excellent Rahul.

At 276 for 3 and with 10 overs already taken off that second new ball - it looks like another long, hard day in the field for England on Day Two. A 500+ total for the visitors is well within the bounds of possibility.
