Amish Have Many Christian Attitudes But ... Have A Serious Doctrinal Problem.
The Amish hold to most foundational Christian doctrines, but base salvation on works. Unicornorama.
The Amish believe...
- There is one God.
- God is a trinity.
- Jesus came to earth as God in the flesh, died, and rose again.
- The Bible is the divinely inspired word of God.
- The church is the body of Christ.
However, they are more than a little hazy on the issue of salvation.
Remember, this is a huge red flag for Christian cults. Traditional
Christianity, including the teachings of the Bible (which is the
compass of Christianity), says that salvation is by grace through faith alone, and not by works (Ephesians 2:8). While the Amish will tell you they
believe this, they don't live it out.
The Amish religion is an extremely heavy works-based religion.
While they may not openly admit it, everything they do -
and WHY they do it
- to points to one thing: they're trying to work out their
own salvation
through works. Amish believe that faithfully attending
church increases
their chances of going to Heaven. It is a strict salvation-by-works
religion based upon human effort.
