UK kickstarts talks for new trade deal with Switzerland
Britain has kickstarted work for a new trade deal with Switzerland to bolster its £35 million relationships with the country.
Boris Johnson hosted his Swiss counterpart, Ignazio Cassis, in Downing Street this morning.
International Trade Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan said the deal is an "opportunity to liberalise trade" and "unlock new opportunities for our world-leading service sector".
She added: "As two services superpowers, we have a huge opportunity to negotiate a modern, ambitious, unprecedented deal that will boost both our economies and show the world what is possible between two like-minded and innovative nations who are firmly within Europe but outside of the EU."
