SIR – The Centre for Social Justice has found that those on the top level of sickness benefits earn an average of £23,900 a year (report, December 2) – £3,000 more than someone with a minimum-wage job. Is it any wonder the number of long-term sick is rapidly increasing?
This country is already bankrupt. We need bold political decisions to reform the system.
