 The footballing authorities were determined to stamp out spying in opponents' training areas.

This was very serious and nothing less than cheating. Well done!

Now. Having seen this, what will happen next? - The answer is that NO other sane clubs will ever dare to take this wicked route. It WILL succeed. It is called DETERRENCE - and yes, it is built on fear!

Crime.

 Deterrence is all about making the outcomes of your actions SO severe as to make all consequences for you to be in the same league as the consequences for Southampton: HUGE. NOT WORTH THE RISK.

In a soft and weak society, the repercussions for you of your criminal actions, are largely trivial. Your incentives not to be a criminal are effectively absent.

If our society wants to cut all crimes, then this will only happen by using credible punishments which will match the seriousness of all offences.

Tragically, successive, feeble governments - over generations - have not had the guts to make sentences fit the crime.

We ALL pay the price of having to live in a severely damaged nation, beset with wrongdoing!
