Christian Voice - well said!

'DEATH SQUAD FOR HIRE.
For the first time, an abortionist has advertised its services on British television. As we went to press, a a thirty second advertisement by Marie Stopes entitled 'Are you late?' was scheduled to broadcast on Channel 4 on Monday 24th May just after 10.00pm.
The advertisement is the first of a series planned to run until the end of June. Its target audience is women whose period is late because they have conceived a baby following sexual intercourse. It advises them to call an 0845 number, the Marie Stopes telephone 'helpline'. The only 'help' on offer will be hands ready, at a price, to tear limb from limb the innocent baby growing in the mother's womb. The bereaved mother will be left with the knowledge that she has killed her child, and without repentance and forgiveness through the saving merits of the Lord Jesus Christ, she will carry that psychological burden until the day of her own death.'

Afghastlystan: time to quit?

Have the poppy fields gone?
Have we found a new way of identifying Taliban from the local populations?
Is there a single jot of evidence of Al Qaeda's presence?
Is Afghanistan likely to become suddenly enamoured with the principles of democracy?
And most importantly, perhaps - are we winning?
Nearly 300 UK dead! - We'd better be! - But I suspect that all we are achieving is a 'winning draw' - all the dubious benefits of which will disappear within a single month of us pulling out.
I can just about manage to justify the campaign if the world all joins in to help and this is to ensure that Pakistan does not fall into the hands of extremists.
But with 294 dead, we've 'done our expensive bit' - it's now time to quit!

1 Corinthians 15.

You can so often tell the nominal Christian from the genuine.
If they do not or cannot grasp this important truth - then they are far from the Kingdom:

"And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain."

Please God - save us from the EU and bureaucrats!

'Ministers wasted £71millon on building 66 motorcycle test centres for manoeuvres that could have been carried out on public roads.
A major review of the motor bike L-test has now been ordered after Labour built the super centres to comply with a 'bizarre' EU metric rule.
An EU directive ordered that L-test manoeuvres - such as the emergency stop or avoiding an obstacle - must be carried out at speeds of 50 kilometres per hour.
But 50kph is 31.2 miles per hour - an illegal speed on the 30mph roads usually used by learner motorcyclists.
And the Driving Standards Agency concluded doing the manoeuvres on 40mph roads would be too dangerous
.'

I despair! Coconuts are called for!

A sensible source of 'green energy'?

'A new type of ‘underwater kite’ tethered to the ocean floor will be able to produce enough electricity to power 10 homes.
The kite, known as Deep Green, uses turbine attached to a wing and rudder which is tethered to the ocean floor by 100 meters of cable.
It uses kinetic energy from the waves which it converts into power. Each ‘kite’ will be able to produce 500 KW of power once fully operational.
Developed by Saab spin-out Minesto, the project has just secured €2 million from investors to fund testing scheduled to start in 2011.'

Makes more sense than flippin' windmills!

Proverbs 2:6.

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Anomalies?

Let us make an extremely wild assumption. Let us consider that Old Labour ideas of 'democratic socialism' contain some small merit.
(Okay - I know it's a bit of a stretch but bear with me a moment.)
Even if you hold these ideas to be true, what can they possibly have in common with the politically correct, scrote-protecting, immoral, spendthrift ways of the new liberal left?

Foxes.

Awwww. Cute aren't they? They would never go into a henhouse of twenty chickens and kill them all before just taking one away, would they?
They'd never butcher young lambs, pet kittens and rabbits apparently safe in hutches would they?
Nor would they ever attack babies in prams. NO! They are cuddlesome and we must never forget it!

Rejoicing is just around the corner, perhaps.

'Chancellor George Osborne could witness Eurozone meltdown, according to leading economists
The euro will break up within five years, according to a survey of leading economists.
The dire state of the public finances of Greece and other eurozone members such as Portugal, Spain, Italy and Ireland have driven the single currency to a four-year low against the dollar and cast doubts over its future.'

A leading Lib Dem was in the Sheffield Star recently stating why we should still join the thrice cursed eurozone.
Europhiles are just not of this planet!

Forgiveness: we practise it for ourselves.

Feel free to despair!

A police force in the UK has been the first to add humanists to its chaplaincy team.

Humanists who hold that science is the most reliable source of knowledge and that morality is found in human nature, society and experience will now have a pastoral role within the police force. Hertfordshire Police already made up of members from other faiths will now have two humanist lay advisers to support police officers.

European Anti–Discrimination Directive—A Threat to Religious Liberty in the UK and Across Europe.

Removal of Rights of Conscience.
The new EU Directive will inevitably remove freedom of conscience for those whose religious beliefs prevent them from endorsing certain homosexual and religious practices. For example, a Christian architect should not be required to design a mosque. A Christian publication should not be required to advertise events or organisations that promote homosexual activity.
The Directive will eventually remove Christianity from public services. For example, a patient of another faith or belief should not be able to sue a hospital because there is a Bible in the bedside locker.

Local councils and schools should not be intimidated into cancelling Christmas carol services.

Peter Hitchens' response to knee-jerk politics.

'... They are determined to make sure nobody in this country is armed, apart from criminals and terrorists, the invariable effect of ‘tough’ gun laws that trouble only the law-abiding and have no impact on illegally held weapons at all.'

Centre right: the politics of compassion and common sense.

In the UK, it is unfortunate that the centre right in politics has, for far too many decades, been associated with the Conservative Party which in its turn is associated with the privileged classes.
In other countries this is perhaps less obvious and the centre right is based more on pragmatism.
The centre right is not imperialistic, nor is it racist, nor is it uncaring - all accusations which may legitimately be levelled at the far right.
So just what are the generic beliefs of the centre right?
They are Democratic. They are caring and want the worker to have employment and a fair rate of pay. They believe that if there is no wealth creation, then there can be no wealth distribution. They believe in the rewarding of merit and in low taxation. They believe that the state is far less important than the family. They believe in a structured society which pays what it has to in order to protect its borders and its citizenry. It has a tendency towards belief in a constitutional monarchy and respects the rule of law.
It upholds principles of responsibility in behaviour and clear punishments for all those, rich or poor alike, who abuse society. It offers respect to foreigners but has no desire to be subservient to them and favours strict immigration control.
The centre right is protective of both our countryside and our heritage. It wants genuine standards in education and the kind of opportunities for youngsters which comprehensives have manifestly failed to bring.

I could continue for quite a long time here but will curtail the piece at this point.
Check out to what extent the Conservative Party fits the criteria above.
Hardly fits the bill any more, does it?

Driving limit to be cut.

'Motorists could find themselves over the limit after drinking less than a pint of beer in the most radical reform of drink-drive laws for more than 40 years.
An official review, expected to be published within weeks, is expected to recommend bringing Britain into line with most of Europe by slashing the legal limit from 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood to 50mg.
It is likely to conclude that the move would prevent up to 65 deaths and 230 serious injuries a year.'

I should like to thank The Ministry of Guesswork for their utterly meaningless statistics.

The truth of the matter is that the government want to come into line with other EU countries. Road Safety is NOT the issue here.

The one-and-a-half-pint-over-two-hours drivers are not our problem. It is the boozers who still drive after a skinful.

AND what of the drugged up chavs who drive and are later stopped by the police? Are they drugs tested? Chances are that they are not! Why are they not the target if road safety is the real issue?

Ten years on The Bench opened my eyes to the truth!

Remembering our boys in Afghastlystan.

ANTHEM FOR DOOMED YOUTH.

What passing-bells for these who die as cattle?
Only the monstrous anger of the guns.
Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle
Can patter out their hasty orisons.

No mockeries now for them; no prayers nor bells;
Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs, –
The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells;
And bugles calling for them from sad shires.

What candles may be held to speed them all?
Not in the hands of boys but in their eyes
Shall shine the holy glimmers of goodbyes.
The pallor of girls' brows shall be their pall;
Their flowers the tenderness of patient minds,
And each slow dusk a drawing-down of blinds.

Wilfred Owen. September - October, 1917.

Good luck Goodluck.

Goodluck Jonathan is the new CHRISTIAN President of Nigeria.

Money well spent?

'Taxpayers are forking out more than £44million a year to maintain the drug habits of thousands of prisoners. Shocking figures out yesterday show that every day the state pays for one in six of the entire prison population to be given methadone or other heroin substitutes.'

So. No meaningful attempts to wean junkies off the very thing which is destroying them?
If not even happening in prison, it certainly ain't gonna happen voluntarily when they are released - is it?

Be of good cheer.

Psalm 11:7

For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

CS Lewis.

"We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst."

Alcohol-pricing and draconian gun control.

At first sight, alcohol-pricing and draconian gun control appear to have but little in common. Nonetheless, after listening to so many 'experts' on TV and radio in the last 24 hours, it is clear that those demanding even further gun controls as their knee-jerk reaction to the Whitehaven tragedy - have lost the plot.
The two ideas are linked by the appalling premise that 'the law-abiding majority must be punished in order to deal with a miscreant minority.'
On a similar theme, it is perhaps worth looking at the url below.

Just how often is leftist dogma actually correct?

'Middle-class families have been on the wrong end of deeply damaging Government policies designed to fix a social mobility problem which does not exist, academics warn today.
The study for the Civitas think-tank says Labour squandered billions on social engineering projects which had little or no impact on a child's chances of success in later life.
In part, this is because the claim that the nation is a closed shop to less well-off youngsters when it comes to employment opportunities is a myth, the study says.
Having re-examined official data, comparing children born in 1958 with those born in 1970, it concludes that Britain is actually an open and meritocratic society in which more than half of the population are in a different class to the one in which they were born.'
