Have we found a new way of identifying Taliban from the local populations?
Is there a single jot of evidence of Al Qaeda's presence?
Is Afghanistan likely to become suddenly enamoured with the principles of democracy?
And most importantly, perhaps - are we winning?
Nearly 300 UK dead! - We'd better be! - But I suspect that all we are achieving is a 'winning draw' - all the dubious benefits of which will disappear within a single month of us pulling out.
I can just about manage to justify the campaign if the world all joins in to help and this is to ensure that Pakistan does not fall into the hands of extremists.
But with 294 dead, we've 'done our expensive bit' - it's now time to quit!
