Ascents - Psalm 130.

Psalm 130

A song of ascents.

1 Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord;
2     Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
    to my cry for mercy.
3 If you, Lord, kept a record of sins,
    Lord, who could stand?

4 But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you.

Splitting Infinitives - No remorse!

I clearly like to randomly split infinitives. This is one area where I intend to never repent!

Trying Hard To Get Pastor Abedini Released.

Calif. Pastor Arrested in Iran After Shouting 'Let My People Go' in Front of Saeed Abedini's Prison By Stoyan Zaimov
A U.S. pastor from California who was arrested earlier this week while protesting in front of Evin Prison in Tehran, Iran, where Pastor Saeed Abedini is set to return home on Wednesday, described the experience as an "honor." Christian News. In our prayer meeting at (or before) dawn on Thursdays - we see Saeed as representing ALL Christians imprisoned for their beliefs.

Competencies.

Did you know that when David Cameron promises the repatriation of powers from the EU, there is no mechanism in existence by which this can be achieved? There has never been any intent to have anything other than 'the ratchet principle' in operation!
Furthermore, it goes outside the long term aims of the unyielding principle of acquis commaunitaire which dates back to the original Treaty Of Rome.
So. How is he going to do the impossible?

Express Poll On Immigration Control.

By last night more than 10,000 people had signed our petition calling on the Government to keep controls on Bulgarian and Romanian workers coming here.
Our telephone switchboard and website were also inundated with expressions of support. And in a further indication of the strength of public opposition to large-scale immigration, 98 per cent of readers taking part in a snap Daily Express phone poll agreed that Britain “should close its borders to ALL new migrants”.
Strict controls on EU migrants are due to lapse at midnight on December 31.

The EU - A Simple Question.

Do you believe that the EU has the best interests of the people of the UK at its heart - or does it work entirely to its own imperialist agenda?
There really are no grey areas nor any middle ground for those readers who would normally enjoy a good compromise.

Stand Up Guys, These Baptists.

Rick Seven Baptist ministers, a youth worker and a journalist walk into a room – and learn how to be funny.
That’s what happened in Liverpool recently, when the North Western Baptist Association ministers and an Echo reporter took part in a six-week comedy course, culminating in a night of live stand-up as part of the Liverpool Comedy Festival.
Working with the Comedy Trust, the group learnt about the art of being a comedian, such as techniques on using a microphone and how to deliver the punchline. Their progress was charted in a regular column by Echo reporter Ben Turner, who was also participating on the course.
And despite understandable nerves, all coped admirably with the pressure of the live show at Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre earlier this month. They are now looking at how to transfer what they have learnt to their ministerial roles.

Normandy Veterans.

My Dad was a Normandy veteran and so I was very sorry to hear reported on local radio yesterday that the NVA is to come to an end next year.
He fought in the Bocage country and at Caen in the days following the D Day Landings.
May God richly bless this dwindling band of heroes.

EU To Demand Uniformity In Toilet Flushing!

BARKING - Absolutely BARKING!

Remember.

Modular Testing To End At GCSE.

Good. Not before time. Too many excuses have been made to justify the inherent unfairness built into this kind of testing.
The 'unfairness' is not to the pupil - who often gets an inflated opinion of their own abilities and causes diluting of more advanced courses further down the line - but to the examination system itself.
Of course, many pupils prefer this method. IT IS EASIER - whatever protestations are made to the contrary.
I did a four year degree course. The first and fourth years were tough as we had to really learn everything. Years two and three (the latter spent at La Universidad Autonoma in Madrid) were a doddle as we were 'continuously assessed and did not need to put as much graft in!
Let us also never forget that non-examination systems are widely open to abuse.

The EU: How Business REALLY Feels!

Business leaders believe the costs of being in the EU outweigh the benefits.
A poll of more than 1,000 bosses, from companies of all sizes and sectors, found overwhelming backing for plans for an in-out referendum on Britain’s place in Europe, with 66 per cent in favour.
The results dramatically undermine the conventional wisdom in Westminster that the business community would automatically campaign for Britain to remain in the EU if a vote were held in 2017, as David Cameron has promised.
The YouGov survey, commissioned by the Eurosceptic group Business for Britain, found that 46 per cent of business leaders believe the costs of complying with Single Market red tape outweigh the benefits of being in the EU, compared with 37 per cent who disagree. Seventeen per cent were undecided.
A total of 56 per cent feel that ‘meaningful change’ of the UK’s relationship with Brussels requires treaty change and a relationship based simply on trade against 23 per cent who don’t.
The poll found that business leaders would like the Government to repatriate powers in nine separate areas, a more far-reaching renegotiation than even David Cameron has suggested.
They want the UK not Brussels to control employment law, environmental regulation and health and safety legislation.

I Volunteer.

Tom Copley - London Assembly Member.

Tributes by MPs to the new Prince George have been labelled ‘stomach-churning' by Tom Copley, a a London Assembly member. He complained about valuable time in Parliament 'being taken up to congratulate two very wealthy aristocrats for procreating’.
What is truly 'stomach-churning' is the rank bitterness and unmitigated nastiness which permeates through so many of the left. Scratch the surface and you do not have to go too far down to find it!

Why Not Set A Test To See Who Was Listening?

Sick Or Treat.

It would be difficult to overstate just how much I hate halloween and the imported horror which is trick or treat. Embracing evil as 'a birra fun, innit?' - sickens me to the core. Why do not ALL churches have alternative fun nights?
As for trick or treat, it is just another name for extortion, and demanding money with menaces.
It puts many old and vulnerable people into genuine fear.

Matthew 5:14.
