Get well soon, Nadine!

Health Minister Nadine Dorries is self-isolating after being diagnosed with coronavirus.

That would be none of you, then. So why did Ms Rayner have to refer to the fact of her diametrically opposed views in the opening line of a tweet she has sent out wishing Ms Dorries a speedy recovery from coronavirus?
“Whilst I almost never agree with Nadine Dorries on anything politically, I do wish her a speedy recovery against (sic) this wretched #coronavirus,” declared Ms Rayner. What would have been wrong with an affectionate “Get well soon, Nadine”?
It may seem like a small point, but it is a telling one for it highlights what we might refer to as “identitarian tribalism” on the political Left.... DT.

Environment Agency Fit For Purpose?

Yorkshire farmer forced to build his own DIY 8ft flood wall is DENIED planning permission
EXCLUSIVE: Farmer John Flintoff, of Crakehill, North Yorkshire, right, built a huge flood barrier to protect his farm and his neighbour's home from the elements. He constructed the soil bank, top left, which he covered with grass, over nine months without realising he needed planning permission. He was astonished when, after completing the project in May 2018, the Environment Agency objected to the barrier - claiming it could push flood water on to others. Thankfully Hambleton District Council ignored the agency, praised Mr Flintoff's efforts and gave him the seal of approval. When the heavens opened last month the DIY flood bank - stretching 720ft and standing 8ft high - held firm. Mail.

Mark Wahlberg.

Mark Wahlberg talked about the importance of his faith during an interview with "Today" host Harry Smith to promote his new movie, Spenser Confidential.
Wahlberg said that gratitude was a big part of his faith life and that he often prays for strength and guidance, as well as how to be a good husband.
"That's the most important thing. I take a day off, I take two days a week off from the gym now. I don't take a day off from getting on my hands and my knees and reading my prayer book and my daily devotionals and, first of all, expressing the gratitude that I have for all the blessings that have been bestowed upon me," he said.

Autism Is Not 'A Mental Disorder' - It Is Autism.

I heard this morning that the politically correct have determined that the word 'autism' is to be expunged from the vocabulary of workers in that particular field.
(I got that from one of the victims yesterday morning.)
Have these buffoons really got nothing better to do? - As soon as the general public is starting to grasp what autism is - they move in to muddy the waters.
Have they not also done this with psychopathy and sociopathy?
The older I get, the more angry I become over PC idiocy.
It was never like this during my childhood, my youth and my twenties.
All of these ludicrous thought patterns began when I was in my 30s - just what good has been achieved over the intervening years?

20% of Yorkshire Peope Living In Poverty?

Well, what shocks me is how this twaddle can find its way into 'respectable' media outlets.
I live no more than a mile from Sheffield S9 - Darnall. Please tremble at the name!
The only people without warm clothing are certain trendy - not to mention, rather dim - young people; I have never seen a single sign of malnutrition; walking past houses in the evenings, the glow of televisions flicker through the curtains; the ubiquitous mobile phone is glued to even more ears than in wealthier parts of the city; they have access to free education; to free healthcare; and benefits, to boot. On the subject of boots, how infrequently you do not see top branded trainers being worn by teens and older?
The numbers sleeping rough are so negligible as to have no numerical, value.
As far as I can work out, all houses have an inside toilet but they didn't when I lived there shortly after getting married! - And no, even as students, we did not consider ourselves in poverty. Our car was parked outside. Today, the vehicles are considerably better than our old HA Viva ever was.

You cannot budget for families where the parent/s are incredibly selfish. Their pleasures of: alcohol, drugs, tobacco, takeaways and gambling wrench money out of the family. What is the state to do? - Give them more money?

We return to that old chestnut, don't we? - Who decides where the 'poverty line' is drawn?
Poverty used to be obvious. Today, we have to closely define in order to insure that it does not go away.

I recently heard a politician speak on radio about "the millions of children living in absolute poverty in the UK ..." Did she not even understand her own terminology?
Clearly, she has not seen the poverty I have in: the shanty towns of South Africa, the centre of Mumbai, the outskirts of Port Said to name just a few.

Just because you are not middle class, this does not make you any more than "relatively poor".

In this 'thinking' if the average wage is £100k and you only have £75k - then you are poor. Such stats are utterly meaningless.

Schengen Agreement Is Falling Apart

Schengen used to just give freedom of movement to international criminals and illegal immigrants.
Now, it seems that it is just concentrating on giving free movement to the Corona virus.

Trevor Phillips suspended from Labour over Islamophobia...
Mr Phillips (left) was among 24 public figures who last year declared their refusal to vote for the Labour Party because of its association with anti-Semitism. He has now been suspended by the party's general secretary Jennie Formby over allegations of Islamophobia 'including statements about Pakistani men grooming children'. Mr Phillips is a prominent anti-racism campaigner who previously chaired the Equality and Human Rights Commission.Mail.

Our Society NEEDS More Homes With A Proper Mum and Dad.

A leading police officer has this week recognised and spoken of the need for children to have both male and female role models as they grow up – namely, that of a father and a mother.

Lack of male role models

Jackie Sebire, assistant chief constable at Bedfordshire police and the national police lead for serious violence, has said that absent fathers and middle-class parents who work long hours are fuelling a rise in teenage knife crime. She pointed particularly to local gang leaders and drug dealers as filling a vacuum for young boys who don’t have any other father figures in their life.
Speaking at a conference of the National Police Chiefs’ Council and the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners in central London, she argued that “it’s a lack of role models” that is contributing to increased knife crime and violence. “Where you do have effective male role models, they’re potentially the drug dealers and exploiters. [Parents are also] busy working. Children in more affluent areas are left to their own devices as well.”

The need for affection from fathers

Studies have shown time and again that children benefit most from having a father and a mother, and that the children most prone to crime are fatherless boys.
Melanie Phillips writes in The Times, “Deprived of the self-affirmation or affection they need from their absent fathers, such boys may turn to gangs to fill the gap. A report by the Children’s Commissioner last year estimated that 27,000 kids in England aged between ten and 15 considered themselves to be in a gang.”
A study in 2012 examining the cases of more than 10,000 sons and daughters also revealed that a cold or distant father can damage a child’s life, leaving children who feel unloved to become anxious, insecure and needy. The research shows that a father’s influence can particularly affect whether a child later drinks to excess, takes drugs or suffers mental health problems.

Not a race issue

None of this is exclusive to any one race or community. However, all too often, says Melanie Phillips, this factor is ignored at police and government level because it is deemed to be racist, or too challenging of people’s ‘lifestyle choices’.
Sheldon Thomas is a former gang member and founder of Gangsline, which provides help and support to young men and women involved in gang culture. He says that the biggest problems when tackling this kind of crime are “bad parenting, absent fathers and bad male role models.”

The importance of both parents

Surveys by the Centre for Social Justice have previously found that 89% of people agree that “if we want to have any hope of mending our broken society, family and parenting is where we’ve got to start.” 81% also believe that it is important for children to grow up living with both parents. Christian Concern.

Be Blessed.
