Cancer breakthrough as 'amazing' new treatment destroys tumours in terminally ill

A CANCER breakthrough has been made as scientists hail the results of an "amazing" wonderdrug that can destroy tumours in terminally ill patients.

A landmark trial found a mixture of two immunotherapy medicines harnessed patients’ immune systems to kill their own cancer cells. Researchers at the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) and The Royal Marsden NHS foundation trust found that the drug cocktail could shrink tumours in terminally ill head and neck patients cancer patients. In some, their cancer completely vanished, leaving doctors baffled to find no trace of disease.

Results from similar trials of the drug combinations have also given similar benefits for terminally ill kidney, skin and bowel cancer patients.

Chemotherapy, often the standard form of treatment for cancer patients who have advanced forms of the disease, is often painful and can have significant side effects.

The Phase 3 trial of the wonderdug involved almost 1,000 cancer patients.

The results were described as “clinically meaningful”, as patients lived months or years longer and suffered far fewer side effects.

Professor Kristian Helin, ICR chief executive said that these were “promising results".

He told The Guardian: “Immunotherapies are kinder, smarter treatments that can bring significant benefits to patients.”

The trial results revealed the immunotherapy combination gave a particularly high success rate in a group of patients whose tumours had high levels of an immune marker called PD-L1.

Survival rates in those with high levels of the marker who received the immunotherapy combination were the highest ever reported in a first line therapy trial of relapsed or metastatic head and neck cancer.

 More than 1,000 people have crossed the English Channel in two days, according to the Home Office.

The Channel is the busiest shipping lane in the world and separates England from France.

On Saturday, the UK rescued 491 people and on Friday 624 people, whilst on those same two days the French authorities stopped 414 people reaching the UK.

Since the start of 2021 17,000 people have crossed the English Channel hoping to seek refuge in England, more than double the amount that crossed last year. Memo.

Blogger: well, as it so happens, I have read the Secret Barrister’s assessment of the magistrates courts. It was just a piece of total leftist garbage which I finally abandoned after struggling through two thirds of a book largely consisting of drivel with barely a redeeming feature.

(It had been bought for me as a joke by someone wanting to yank my chain!)

It really was possible to put down - a twisted tale of the magistracy emerged - one which was barely recognisable to anyone who was ever a JP, a Chairman, as well as a Magistrate Qualified To Sit As A Judge In Crown Court - as I had been.

The book spewed hatred and abuse. IMHO, the 'secret lawyer' was really miffed that multitudes of unpaid lay people had a so much better grasp of Justice than many belonging to the Bar and The Law Society.

Interestingly, the SB did not touch on any of the reasons why I finally relinquished my position in this exercise of my social duty.

Our Nature-Depleted UK.

 The UK is one of the world’s most nature-depleted countries – and may not have enough biodiversity to prevent an ecological meltdown, according to new data.

The UK has an average of only 53% of its biodiversity left, well below the global average of 75%. That’s according to analysis by the Natural History Museum released on Sunday 10 October.

Biodiversity dwindling fast

Both figures are lower than the 90% average which experts consider the “safe limit” to prevent the world from tipping into an “ecological recession”. This would mean a future in which ecosystems don’t have enough biodiversity to function well. Moreover, it would lead to crop failures and infestations that could cause shortages in food, energy and materials. The Canary.

As songbirds plummet into decline - what I refer to as 'rubbish species' have taken over. Add urban foxes to the mix, now uncontrolled country foxes and brown rats as well as so many 'ordinary species' which have dwindled: ground-nesting birds, tree nesting birds and smaller rodents have all suffered.

Against this backcloth, certain bodies are attempting to lend support to an excess of raptors such as sparrow-hawks.

Many are even reintroducing creatures which have been non-existent on these shores for up to half a millennium - goshawks and red kites to name but two!

Fury Gives Jesus The Credit.

Sorry that I missed what has been called the fight of the decade.

Fury downed Wilder three times - and in the 11th round, that was that.

Three wins out of three. (Okay, I know that the first fight was called a draw but we all knew who really won!)

Good that Fury gives Jesus the glory he merits. He's a man who, so often has done and said things he shouldn't - so is he a poor witness to the Saviour?

Emphatically not! Who amongst the brethren can call themselves worthy of Jesus?

I certainly know that I don't measure up. I must rely and depend entirely on God's Grace - as must we all.

We start with repentance, ask forgiveness and let Christ's atoning work at Calvary become our salvation.

To ALL who approach him honestly and earnestly - forgiveness beckons.
