It seems that The Dahlgren Papers are, in all likelihood, genuine.
These are the orders to the colonel of that name, to assassinate the confederate president, Jefferson Davis and his cabinet as authorised by Abraham Lincoln.
Fascinatingly, this probably fomented Lincoln's own assassination after the papers fell into Confederate hands.
