Election Facts - Sheffield. UKIP On The Up.

UKIP Sheffield Chairman Jonathan Arnott said “I am delighted by this result, which shows that the UK Independence Party is growing fast across the city. These results provide us with a real springboard for the next set of Council and European elections, and I look forward to having our first councillors elected to Sheffield City Council.”
This is the first time in the Party’s history that it has finished ahead of the Conservative Party citywide in any major city at Council elections.
The percentage vote shares across the city were as follows – note that ALL other parties’ vote shares fell whilst UKIP increased dramatically.

  • UKIP took 10.5% of the vote across Sheffield – up from 1.8% in 2011
  • In 10 wards across the city we finished in second place
  • UKIP’s best two results were 27.5% in Stocksbridge & Upper Don and 22.1% in Woodhouse
  • UKIP finished ahead of the Conservatives in 22 of the 28 Sheffield seats, and ahead of the Green Party in 19 of the 28 seats
  • UKIP’s citywide total was 13,652 votes compared with 13,607 for the Greens and 10,722 for the Conservative Party
  • UKIP’s share of the vote increased in every seat contested
