Voting Must NEVER Be Made Compulsory.

Compulsory voting is not the same as making people fill in a census form once a decade. The latter is essential for government to work from a base of knowledge - although which questions are to be included is a matter for debate.

An element of compulsion in voting undermines democratic freedom however disappointed we must be that 68% did not bother/choose to vote in last week's local elections.
Calls to make voting compulsory must be ignored.
