INDIA - Christians still in jail despite High Court ruling
Seven Christians arrested over the murder of a Hindu extremist in Odisha state in 2008 are still in jail awaiting trial – despite Maoists claiming responsibility for the death.Judges in the so-called ‘fast-track court’ in Odisha (formerly Orissa) are accused of deliberately keeping the Christians in jail – apparently to appease Hindu extremists. The prosecution has frequently called for adjournments; judges have failed to turn up to hearings.(Release Int.)
