Jamaica Inn.

There have been many complaints about the sound quality of Daphne du Maurier's televised Jamaica Inn.
This Blog deplores the loss of key speech - usually by unedifying slurring of words or loud music on the soundtrack or a combination thereof. There was a phase, maybe twenty five years ago when this became the norm, especially in American films before disappearing. This pain in the rear has now returned with a vengeance.
Here is a tip for directors - if the soundtrack is louder than the actual speech it accompanies - YOU HAVE FAILED!
(My hearing is excellent, by the way.)
