I recently caught a Simon Schama history programme which
perpetuated the PC myth of the 'brilliant, black nurse Mary Seacole who left
Florrie Nightingale in her wake' during The Crimean War.
This urban myth, designed to create black role models, is most
unfortunately, invented. I only wish that it had been true. (I had thought that the left-leaning Schama was supposed to be a
top notch historian!)
