A Christian man was killed and another was seriously injured when suspected Islamist extremists attacked them with machetes at a church in Bukoba, north-west Tanzania.
Dioniz Ng’wandu, a secondary school teacher, and a man known only as Temistores had attended an early morning prayer meeting with their pastor at their Pentecostal Assemblies of God church in Busimbe parish on October 9.
Masked attackers struck after Pastor Faustine Joseph had left the church. Temistores required hospital treatment for injuries to his left foot.
Pastor Faustine said church members had been receiving threats from extremists who have vowed to decrease the number of Christians in the mainly Muslim area. Local pastors have asked the Government to investigate the attack.
