Radical Islamic groups responsible for majority of worldwide terrorist deaths.
Four Islamic groups were responsible
for the deaths of almost two-thirds of the nearly 18,000 people killed last year
in terrorism attacks, according to a report published this week. The Global Terrorism Index report says that the four groups - Al Qaeda, the Taliban, Boko Haram and 'Islamic State' - have in common "religious ideologies based on extreme interpretations of Wahhabi Islam," although their strategic goals may differ. Along with their affiliate groups, they account for 66% of claimed terrorist deaths in 2013. |
