Przemek Skwirczynski, who came to Britain in 1999, openly describes himself as a Eurosceptic and fears the effect Brussels' political elite are having on the continent's nation states.
The 32-year-old, who is now bidding to become a Ukip MP for Tooting in south London in the upcoming General Election, insists he has never thought highly of the EU and fears it is reversing years of independence that his birthplace and many others fought so hard to gain.
He said: "Even when I was in Poland I never really liked the idea of the European Union and then since I came here in 1999, I suppose I started thinking even stronger about it.
"Many of us see which way it is heading and it seems to be heading towards one state, the United States of Europe.
"I don't want the whole of Europe to be one country, basically."
Mr Skwirczynski left Poland in 1999 at the age of 16 - five years before the Eastern European country joined the EU in 2004 – and went on to become a banker in London's prestigious Canary Wharf. Sunday Express.
