A EUROPEAN Union bill of £1.7bn once labelled "completely unacceptable" by David Cameron has now been fully paid. The Prime Minister originally flatly refused to stump up for the charge, which was a tax on Britain's positive economic performance, when the EU told him last year he had weeks to settle.
But the European Commission has now confirmed Cameron paid the fee in two instalments post-general election.
The second of these came at the beginning of this month.
Speaking last October after the EU had told him he had until December to pay up the £1.7bnhe said: "This is completely unacceptable.
"It is an unacceptable way for this organisation to work - to suddenly present a bill like this for such a vast sum of money with so little time to pay it. EXPRESS.
