This character would be even more dangerous to nestlings and birds' eggs than the magpie. The only distinction is that the bird is considerably smaller and that, happily, there are far fewer jays. They have not proliferated in the manner of magpies as they have not really been able to take full advantage of litter, waste, takeaway wrappings et al.
