Until Theresa May finally gets on with invoking Article 50, we're stuck in
the European Union. We're still giving away £55 million every single day to the
European Union - and that's set to go up in 2017. New EU laws are still coming
into force. I still have to go to Strasbourg and Brussels and fight against
this.
This week has been an incredibly busy one. We were voting on the 2017 Budget and I put forward 33 amendments to make savings of 3.5 billion euros of taxpayers' money. But we knew exactly what would happen in advance, as I'm sure you all do: every single one failed. The amendments were aimed at reducing MEP salaries, cut funding for 3rd countries joining the EU, cut Commission expenses and allowances, scrap EU House of History and cut Council salaries.
I then sat there and watched in horror, pressing my red button repeatedly as greedy MEPs from other parties demanded even more taxpayers' money. My article in the Chronicle gives my views on the UKIP Leadership election, which I believes offers a beacon of hope for our future.
