Catalonia.

Spanish constitutional court suspends Catalan transition law.

The Spanish Constitutional Tribunal on Tuesday suspended the so-called 'transition law', which was adopted by the Catalan parliament last week. The law aimed to organise Catalonia's transition into becoming an independent state if the Yes side were to win the referendum planned for 1 October. Last week, the court had already ruled that another regional law, organising the vote itself, was illegal.
