Of course, simple matters like discovering TRUTH do not enter into the equation. I do hope that Mr Carlin had learned substantially more than this before having had to face God's judgement, a decade ago.
Please do your own research into the Man whose birth we shall shortly be celebrating. 
In the meantime - yield your life to God, thank Him that, in the form of God the Son, a sacrifice was made for you. Even so, you still have to claim it via repentance and dedicating your life to Jesus.
The prospect of facing hell is not a funny one - do not delay.
