Criminality: The Present System Has Failed By Removing All Fear.

As so many nasty, malevolent, greedy evil people prey on our society and make the lives of our citizens wholly miserable - the time has come to reevaluate our approach to criminality:
1) Punishments must fit the crime.
2) The interests of the community must come ahead of the interests of criminals.
3) Excuses for criminal behaviour must increase sentencing rather than lower it. Only reasons will be tolerated.
4) Solicitors and barristers - so-called 'officers of the court' - should be made to speak under oath so that any half truths can see them charged with perjury. This is very much needed.
5) More prisons should be built. These should not be cruel but ought to be austere places for work and education.
6) ALL breaches of court orders must result in custody.
7) We, as a society, must remove social privileges from the criminal classes. The right to vote must be one such.
8) There needs to be a war on the criminal underclass.
9) As used to be the case decades ago - criminals must truly fear the consequences of their actions.
10) There needs to be the certainty that a third criminal conviction will bring a mandatory court disposal - a Declaration of Persistent Criminality. This would guarantee - without exception - that every person committing a further offence, from this point, will receive a significant period of custody. This DPC could be revoked after a five year period without offending but would only take a single breach beyond that point to be put back in place for ten years.
11) We have tried being nice; we have tried probation; warnings; work orders and counselling. It has all failed. Time to ensure that CRIME DOES NOT PAY!
