Peterborough Result Halts BP Bandwagon.

Labour beat the Brexit Party 10,484 to 9,801. That’s a margin of just 683 votes.
It was most interesting to see the Lib Dems pushed into fourth place with the Tories in third.

Let this be a lesson to all you Tory voters - you handed Labour this seat!

I have repeatedly used the word 'momentum' - and how vital it was for The Brexit Party to maintain this until the end of October. Well - it didn't happen. The entire shebang has now been halted.

This is something I became all too familiar with in my years working for Ukip. Be under no illusion - this was a disaster - not only for the BP but for the nation. Regaining lost momentum is prodigiously difficult.

One similarity between this and the 2015 by-election, featuring Ukip's John Bickley in Greater Manchester, has been Labour's manipulation of the ethnic, Pakistani vote. Indeed, last night, the BBC stated that Labour could only win if they were to get significant votes from voters of Pakistani origin.
Personally, I find such scenarios both worrying and distasteful. Indeed, I sometimes feel that Labour's anti-semitism is used to woo moslem voters.

I trust that the fraudulent voting practices back then have not reoccurred in Peterborough.

Should Nigel have stood instead of the local candidate? - No. I do not think so. Maybe he could have made the difference but we cannot be sure.
I am aware that a great many of my friends refuse to vote for him because they mistrust his persona - and not without some grounds.

I feel strongly that Nigel missed a trick however, in not standing in the Rotherham by-election in 2012 when I feel that this same 'persona' might well have carried him to victory, in a seat which was ripe for the plucking, in a town which was to elect many Ukip councillors.
