In the first two sessions of the second day, the England bowlers took control and India saw six of their wickets tumble.
They were on the ropes but after the batting shambles in the last test, England had gone into the match a bowler short. This cost them as bowlers tired in the third session whilst Sundar and Pant built a fine partnership to put India into the driving seat.
Pant fell shortly after completing a worthy century and India led by 89 runs and still had 3 wickets in hand at stumps.
England will need to bat brilliantly to wipe out what looks like it is going to be a very significant first innings lead on a pitch which is taking increasing amounts of sharp spin.
