Dear Friends,
This weekend we heard the news we’ve feared since the coup began on 1 February. The military opened fire on peaceful protesters, with well over 20 confirmed dead and many more wounded.
And yet the people continue to peacefully protest. The picture of Sister Nu Thawng kneeling before the police, begging them not to shoot protesters is one that I can’t forget. Now the free world must match the courage of Myanmar’s people.
Please stand with the people of Myanmar now by calling for tough sanctions – against the military not the people.
