MPs Harriet Harman and Caroline Nokes argue the law should be changed so that catcallers face criminal charges. Mail.
Blogger: I remember when we punished shoplifters and burglars inevitably went to prison as did those who drove whilst disqualified.
Can we maybe try punishing real crimes before arresting street preachers; the politically incorrect and those who are no more than social annoyances rather than yer actual criminals?
If the unwanted banter, catcalls and wolf whistles get excessive - there are already plenty of crimes on the statute books which can be employed against them - if absolutely necessary.
Simple pig ignorance, of itself, cannot really be classed as a crime.
Where next? Prosecuting the terminally stupid? - Can't see it myself - but that is the way the likes of Harriman and co will happily take us.
