Four years ago, Gao Zhisheng went missing.

The Chinese Christian lawyer had been under house arrest for years due to his human rights work, before disappearing completely in August 2017. He’s believed to be in some form of detention, but no one has been able to see him since.

The years of worry about Gao have taken their toll on his family. For them, and the families of countless others around the world who have gone missing in connection with their faith, it’s the not knowing that’s the worst part.

Your gift of £21 today will help to shine a light into the darkness of Gao Zhisheng’s disappearance. 

It will enable us to keep raising his case – and those of others facing injustice for their beliefs – with people in power.

At any one time there may be thousands of people worldwide who have been ‘disappeared’ for their beliefs – or, like Gao, because of the action their faith inspires them to take. 

Waiting in fear is surely one of the most agonising of all human experiences. Each of these missing people leaves behind loved ones. A few months ago Gao's wife, Geng He, called on the Chinese government to return his remains, as she believes he may have been 'persecuted to death'.
